Broken Social Scene will play their first shows in five years.
Broken Social Scene from Toronto, Canada have announced a tour together for the first time since 2011. Just yesterday, Broken Social Scene announced new music is in the works for their follow-up to their last album Forgiveness Rock Record back in 2010. Details are still to come on their new album, but for now Broken Social Scene has given us the dates for their upcoming tour to sit on (listed below).
The indie rock band co-founded by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning formed back in 1999 and has had a range of 6-19 members at separate times during their years. Don’t label the band as a ‘supergroup’ though, as they refuse to label themselves as such. The band claims that within the indie scene “everyone is all collectively involved in the same projects”.
Broken Social Scene’s critically-acclaimed 2010 album Forgiveness Rock Record was recorded in Chicago at Soma, and also in their hometown Toronto at the studio of Sebastian Grainger and James Shaw. John McEntire produced for the album, and for the first time in the band’s history members Amy Millan, Emily Haines, and Leslie Feist recorded a track together.
The upcoming shows are the only chance for fans of Broken Social Scene to see them perform live in 2016.
