Oh, 1987. How you have blessed music with a much-needed kick in the ass with The Joshua Tree, Music for the Masses, You’re Living All Over Me, and most importantly, Appetite for Destruction. It would be another year before Guns N’ Roses’ debut would reach the top of the charts, but the seeds of their Los Angeles party-hard mentality were planted in 1987.
Almost 30 years, 5 albums, a (semi) break up, and $14 million later, Guns N’ Roses has been rocking it with a vengeance with the ‘Not In This Lifetime…’ Reunion Tour. Although not all of the original members are together yet *cough Izzy & Steven cough*, the tour so far has been going great. Steven Adler even showed up just last week to play “Out ta Get Me” and “My Michelle,” which was the first time that Adler played with the group since 1990.
In an interview with WZLX, Slash even said that “everybody’s really getting along great and I think everybody’s come a long way, and it’s all cool.”
And for many Guns N’ Roses fans, its so much more than just cool. The impact of the tour can already be seen, even from a financial perspective. According to Live Nation, six shows into the tour, the band has already racked in $100,000,000 in ticket sales alone. To put that into perspective, Forbes announced that the top earning rock act over the last year was AC/DC with only $67.5 million, including music, tickets, and merchandise.
To add on to the hype, GNR has extended the tour with ten South American dates, providing a chance for Latin American fans to watch the celebrated band back and running.
