Conor Oberst Announces Fall 2016 Tour Dates

Conor Oberst was only about 15 years old when he founded Bright Eyes, the alternative indie folk rock act that so many people have grown to love and adore. The band’s beautifully delicate songs combined with Oberst’s fragile yet emotional vocals have brought the band popularity and recognition over the 21 years its been with us so far.

However, Bright Eyes is not the only project that Oberst has worked on throughout his long career in music. Oberst had been in a wide variety of bands including Commander Venus along with Tim Kasher (frontman for beloved emo rock outfit Cursive), Ben Armstrong, and Robb Nansel (co-founder of the huge Omaha-based indie rock label Saddle Creek). Oberst also has been part of the Desaparecidos (2001), Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band (2007), and Monsters of Folk (2009).

Then in 2012, Oberst finally touring under his own name, culminating in a very well-received solo record called Upside Down Mountain in 2014. However, Oberst’s seemingly perfect career was not without its hiccups. The same year his solo album came out, Conor was accused of raping a woman by the name of Joanie Faircloth in 2004, and he had to file a libel lawsuit as well as go through much emotional trauma until Faircloth admitted that she was lying for attention.

As you can see, Oberst has been through a lot so far, but unlike his fragile and vulnerable voice, the artist’s mentality seems to be quite strong. Oberst is back on the scene and ready to hit the stage with a new Fall Tour spanning across the United States from Tennessee to New York to Chicago to Los Angeles. Along with one small show in Ontario. Take a look at the dates and places, and hopefully you might be able to see the beauty of Fevers & Mirrors as well as I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning.

Christopher Lee: I am a college student from California. I am a massive fan of most things rock, and especially of all things Car Seat Headrest. Journalism has been a great passion of mine, and I hope that I'll be able to continue to merge my worlds of music and journalism as the years go on.
