WATCH: Gojira Release New Video For “Low Lands”

French metal rock group Gojira, who slowly have been unveiling all the new material they have been working on with their new LP Magma, have just released the newest music video from their recently released studio album. “Low Lands” is one of the most emotional tracks on the new record, and this time the group do a little acting for this heavy song.

The clip was directed by Alain Duplantier, who is the cousin of Gojira brothers Joe and Mario Duplantier, and features split shots between scenes inside an empty house and a massive raging flame outdoors. As the shots fade in and out of each other we catch fades of the Gojira members playing the song, and as all that is going on we see glimpses of a young woman with an umbrella, adding even more layers to this already confusing “Low Lands” video, finally ending with a backtracking shot of the house in which all the chaos just happened, as if flying over the forest and away from the crazy scene.

Loudwire released a statement from Joe Duplantier regarding the new video, claiming “It is an intimate and poetic piece directed by our dear cousin and friend Alain Duplantier. One of the ‘characters’ featured in this film is ‘Gayeres,’ the family house where Mario and I grew up. We jammed to our first songs, started Gojira, and recorded most of our albums there. Our sister Gabrielle also contributed to the making of this video. We want to thank all the wonderful people who worked hard to make this happen and all our fans for supporting us with so much passion and respect. We hope you’ll enjoy the trip as much as we do.”

Magma is highly inspired by the death of the Duplantier’s mother, providing a new dynamic to the group’s music with all the added distress that was brought onto them, with their fans are receiving it with open arms and positive reception. The new album continuously shows to be one of the strongest works to come out of Gojira, and with the new album in our grasp, fans can only hope that an even more epic tour will follow close by.
