London-based project of Oli Bayston, Boxed In, is finishing up their sophomore album Melt, set for a September 23 release via Nettwerk as reported by Stereoboard. The album follows Boxed In’s self-titled debut. has revealed the video for the album’s first single, “Jist.”

The clip takes us on a psychedelic trip that includes a never-ending spiral staircase, swirling vortex, and giant fish invading a city.

The video was directed by Wayne McCauslin, who made a statement in a press release.

The music video for ‘Jist’ came about initially when incorporating Oli’s liking for surrealist artists that we both admire, I drew a lot of inspiration from the likes of F. Bacon, Escher, and Hitchcock whilst trying to keep things funky. Oli’s composition offered me a lot of visual ground for adding elements and glitches here and there, so the creative process felt very natural and it was fun to play with.

Bayston made a statement as well.

“I think Wayne has done an incredible job with the video. He’s managed to adopt my lyrical themes of paranoia and claustrophobia and actually make them fun! Quite an achievement. He’s also created a world I’d love to visit some time.”

The release of the forthcoming album will be followed by a live show in London on September 29 at Kamio.

Oli Bayston’s project has been active since 2012, and emerged upon the release of electro-pop single “All Your Love Is Gone” via Moshi Moshi Records in late 2013. In 2015, his self-released debut acclaimed by critics, with some comparing the effort to the work of LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip.
