Throughout the year, Savages has been busy touring in festivals and shows, appearing alongside a variety of acts including Courtney Barnett, Brian Wilson, Death Grips and Julia Holter. And it doesn’t look like the critically lauded band is planning on taking a break anytime soon.
Savages just announced a summer 2016 tour, spanning Europe, North America, and Asia starting tomorrow all the way to early October.
Hailing from London, all-female post-punk alternative rock outfit Savages boasts a loud, punch-in-the-face sound. Like its music, Savages somewhat violently kicked into the music industry with its debut LP Silence Yourself in 2013, along with powerful and unrelenting single “Husbands.” The album was praised by both critics and the general public, receiving an 82 on Metacritic while reaching No. 19 in the UK and No. 70 on the Billboard 200.
After a painfully long two and a half years, Savages followed up their debut with Adore Life, another album filled to the brim with savage riffs from guitarist Gemma Thompson and frontwoman Jehnny Beth’s emotional shouting that made their first album so adored.
Although Beth’s powerful voice soars above the dense instrumentation while exploring a darker side of love, the album is positive at it’s core. Beth repeatedly shouting “I adore life” and “love is the answer” emanates an unusual optimism.
Now, Savages is bringing that dark optimism to the stage throughout the summer. So if you haven’t had a chance to see one of their high-octane rabid live shows yet, you should definitely not miss this chance.
