Pixies Announce New Bassist Paz Lenchantin And New Album Head Carrier For September 2016 Release

The Pixies have just announced they will be releasing a new album titled Head Carrier.  The album is set for release on September 30th, but fans can get a sneak peak with their new single “Um Chugga Lugga”.  The single is available now on pixiesmusic.com and the album is avaliable for preorder.  A limited edition deluxe box set of Head Carrier  will also be available on the website and will include the CD, the album on heavy-weight/180 gram black vinyl, a 24-page, oversized booklet with the song’s lyrics as well as Oliver’s original artwork.  There will also be another deluxe set that will include the previously mentioned box, a t-shirt, and a poster of the album cover.  The 12 track album was produced by  Tom Dalgety and recorded at London’s Rak Studios.

The album cover is an original piece by the Pixies’ art director Vaughan Oliver.

The band has also just added bassist Paz Lenchantin to their permanent line-up.  Lenchantin has been touring with the Pixies since 2014 and can be heard on the upcoming album.  She co-wrote and sings lead vocals on the track “All I Think About Now”.  The song, co-written with Frank Black, is reportedly about founding bassist Kim Deal.  Per Lenchantin’s suggestion it is a thank you letter to the former member who left in 2013.

The band will be embarking on a global tour which will start with a European leg.  The tour kicks off this fall in Vienna.  Check out the list of confirmed dates below.
