Brand New is a New York based rock band, formed in 2000, that consists of members Jesse Lacey (lead vocals), Vincent Accardi (guitar), Garrett Tierney (bass) and Brian Lane (drums). But after 16 years of being a band, more tours than we can count, four studio albums and one scheduled for release later this year, it might be all over for them.
It appears that they will disband in 2018, after the release of their album and a final tour. And it seems they announced the big new via t-shirts. Two new t-shirts, which both say the band’s existence ranges from the year 2000 to the year 2018, appeared on the group’s online store last month.
It seems Brand New have yet to publicly announce they are disbanding in 2018, util now. On the first show of Brand New’s tour with Modest Mouse, Lacey reaffirmed the band’s disbandment, telling the audience, “We’re done. Oh yeah, we’re done and it makes nights like this all the more special so thanks for being here.”
This wasn’t the first time Lacey spoke about the band calling it quits. According to Consequence of Sound, “Lacey has insinuated that Brand New’s shelf life is nearing expiration. Last year, Lacey announced the band’s impending breakup during a concert in Nashville”.
So, with all the speculations now being allegedly confirmed , it seems the rumors are true.
A fan captured Lacey saying “we’re done”. Watch it unfold below.
In related news, Brand New released their latest new song “I Am A Nightmare”about two months ago, which is the newest material the band has released since 2015, when they released the single “Mene. Their fifth studio album has been said to be released in late 2016.
So at least if they really are breaking-up, Brand New fans will be left with one more album and one last chance to seem them on tour.
