Scott Walker Announces New Soundtrack The Childhood Of A Leader For August 2016 Release

It has been announced that 4AD will release Scott Walker’s orchestral soundtrack,Walker’s first film score since 1999, to Brady Corbet’s feature film. The cast stars Robert Pattinson (Twiglight Series), as well as Bérénice Bejo (The Artist) and Liam Cunningham (Davos from “Game of Thrones”). The Childhood Of A Leader comes out August 19th, 2016.

Not only is it a key component to Corbet’s directorial debut,  it is also Walker’s first original soundtrack work since his outstanding score for Pola X.

The Childhood of a Leader first premiered at the Venice Film Festival,  last year and is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in North America on July 22. It is based on a Jean-Paul Sartre story, of the same name and focuses on the life of a young American boy, set against the backdrop of the 1919 Paris Peace Conference which led to the creation of the Treaty of Versailles.

Walker worked with long-term collaborators Peter Walsh, who is co-producer and with musical director, Mark Warman. An orchestra comprised of 46 string players and 16 brass for the studio recording were used in creating the original soundtrack.

The Childhood Of A Leader will be released in digital, CD and LP formats starting August 19, with a limited run of transparent vinyl copies planned too via the 4AD online store. It is available for pre-order now, here.

Aside from this, Walker’s most recent musical endeavor was his excellent 2014 collaboration with Sunn O))) for the album, Soused. Read more about it here.
