Rapper Shane- Too Busy To Be This Broke

Practice makes perfect.

This North Carolinian is formally known as Stranger Day but now called Rapper Shane. He’s released a new EP, Too Busy To Be This Broke. The North Carolina rapper’s EP is a five song collaborative project with producer Ducko McFli. Too Busy To Be This Broke is his first project released after changing his stage name.

While listening to Rapper Shane, there are major similarities to the hype that both Mac Miller and Asher Roth have when they rap. Though his songs bring some reminders to mainstream artists, he does not seem to bring much to the table when it comes to wordplay. The short EP all sort of blends together and does not really carry out any type of message to his audience. The production of the EP is pretty basic and doesn’t bring anything that listeners have not heard already. It’s a pretty much an album that could have been made in a basement. The most decent song on the EP is “Reachin’,” which is track four on the album. Again not too promising until the end, the southern rapper still has a lot to learn when it comes to word play, but it could just be a southern-style of rapping, much like Paul Wall.

Rapper Shane compares himself to 90s hip-hop, like Wu-Tang Clan, Jay-Z and Nas. His energy in the songs may remind listeners of 90s rap. The confidence that Rapper Shane expresses throughout each song may make listeners want to see if there is any build up. Hopefully he has another project coming soon with more songs to go with his new stage name. The EP was released on June 10th and is available on SoundCloud for fans and new listeners to enjoy. The rapper may need some work in the lyrics department but practice only makes perfect in the industry.
