British electronic musician Zomby is back, following up his last effort two years earlier, With Love, now with another full LP entitled Ultra. Set to be released September 2 via Hyperdub, the record includes a number of collaborations that include labelmates and fellow electronic artists Burial and Darkstar.
With musical influences from jungle to Wiley’s eskibeat sound ,Zomby, has released an impressive collection of sounds that have yet to disappoint. With Love and the dual EPs Let’s Jam were without a doubt worthy of your attention.
The double-album, With Love, conveyed the urgency to stand out in the musical world of electronic beats known as dubstep, that seems to sometimes limit how much an artist can actually evolve. But, Zomby did just that. You can hear the growth and progress from his earlier effort in 2011, Dedication. The epic evolution must continue.
So, it would be no surprise if Ultra is that continuation of great work that demands you to listen. The kind of work that lets you know it’s here to stay.
In addition to the LP, Hyperdub will also be releasing a 10” collaboration between Zomby and Burial, titled“Sweetz,” which will be out on July 29.
