LISTEN: Jherek Bischoff Releases New Song “Closer to Closure”

Jherek Bischoff, the Los Angeles based musician and composer, has just released a new song entitled “Closer to Closure.”

The song sits at just over five minutes long. It is completely instrumental like much of his previous work.

“Closer to Closure” is a beautiful journey that incorporates classical music with modern indie folk sound. The song crescendos into a magnificent collection of harmonies and melodies; creating a marvelous and breathtaking result.

The new song comes off of Bischoff’s forthcoming album, Cistern, that is to be released July 15th via Leaf Label.

The album’s entire production is also completely interesting. The name itself contains information on the album’s blueprint. As Bischoff details in his press release, the album was recorded at the bottom of a cistern; “Underground in pitch black, without the ability to see, the sound of the space is even more exaggerated. What is revealed instantly is a reverberation unlike anything you have ever experienced. The vast emptiness of the cistern generates a reverb decay that lasts 45 seconds.”

The process is shown to be very innovative and what has resulted from it surely shows that it payed off. In addition to Jherek Bischoff’s own instrumentation, the album was also recorded with the New York-based ensemble Contemporaneous.

In addition to releasing this new album, Jherek Bischoff has also recently released works that have paid homage to David Bowie and Prince.
