Electronic artist Trentemøller has released a new video for the track “River In Me”. The track is a collaboration with vocalist Jehnny Beth of the UK band Savages.

The Danish electronic artist has a new album, Fixion, set to be released in September, and this video should add some well-placed anticipation for it. The track itself makes great use of Beth’s intense, piercing (in a good way) vocals over top a mid-tempo, icy electronic backdrop. It’s a good song on its own, not necessarily breaking ground, but featuring enough interesting aspects to warrant repeated listens.

It really all comes together with the aid of the video, which runs the gamut of a variety of images including hockey, car accidents and make-out sessions. It’s the kind of video that works well in combination with the track, as otherwise it may be seen by some as somewhat aimless. Set to the straight-ahead instrumental, and especially Beth’s captivating vocals, a real winner is seen here. Check it out below and see for yourself.

If this cut is any indication, fans should be in for an essential listen come September, when Fixion is finally released. The new LP will be Trentemøller’s fourth, with his last one, Lost being released in 2013. A remix album titled Lost Reworks followed the studio album in 2014.

For now, this video should be enough to hold everyone over. Though the track errs more on the side of a darker atmosphere, it is still suitable for Summer listening. Given that it’s also a new look for Beth, who has been on roll with Savages recently, it will be of interest to fans of the band as well to hear her in this context. It all works, and though it doesn’t break any new molds, it is a sharp song that will feel at home on most playlists.

Be on the lookout for more work from both Trentemøller (obviously the new album coming out in September) and Savages as 2016 progresses. Both are hitting the prime of their careers, and will be producing more quality material like “River In Me”, and on the move to showcase their musical versatility, just like they’ve done with this video.
