Acclaimed Scottish alt-rock band Teenage Fanclub has annonuced its new album Here, which is the band’s first new release in over six years. Here will be the tenth studio album by the ‘Fannies. Teenage Fanclub is a unique band in that it has three different primary songwriters. Songwriting duties pass between Norman Blake (guitar), Raymond McGinley (lead guitar), and Gerard Love (bass). The songwriter always sings lead vocals on songs that they write. This gives the ‘Fannies a lot of variety in their lead vocals and songwriting themes. This is not dissimilar to Tom DeLounge and Mark Hoppus of blink-182 and their distinct singing styles.
Here will feature four songs from each songwriter. Pre-orders for the album are available here. The first released track from the album, “I’m In Love”, can be viewed below.
The track beautifully combines smooth, clean vocals punctuated by a distinct lead guitar. The fuzzy bass and rhythm guitars blend masterfully to balance out the crystal clear main melodies. The classic and relatable romantic lyrics paint the picture of a singer who’s hopelessly intoxicated with the feeling of love.
Here will be available on September 9th. The band has announced U.K. tour dates, and they have hinted that they also may come to the U.S. soon.
