Body Count Sign New Deal With Century Media Records And Have Begun Work On New Album

Body Count has signed new record deal with Century Media Records, which will be issuing the band’s forthcoming LP, which is currently in progress.

The yet-to-be-titled album will be the band’s sixth, proceeding 2014’s Manslaughter. The Ice-T led metal band debuted in 1992 with their self-titled release.

The new record is being produced by Will Putney, who Ice-T has praised for his ear in the studio, and going so far as to say that Putney “is like a member of the band.” He also credits him for the ability to “capture the true essence of the band’s sound.” T also said the once the record is completed, the band will be shooting numerous music videos, as well as appearing in spot performances on certain festival bills.

As for the new record deal with Century Media Records, it seems to have rejuvenated the band, and Ice-T claims that it was a prove that predicts the band’s sound to progress into even more speed and aggression.

“It’s cool to be a member of The Century Label Group alongside such a lot of well-established metal artists,” Ice-T said. “With our last album Manslaughter, we tested the waters and got a lot of great response from the fans and critics. Now it’s time to go kill it and make a more aggressive album and keep the Body Count style in tact.”

It may be easier said than done, but Ice-T’s crew, which still features original members Ernie C and Sean E. Sean, has been at it for over 20 years, fusing rap and metal music together in a way that isn’t gimmick-ridden, or a product of the moment. A new record deal only predicts a continued future for the band, since they seem willing to progress and challenge themselves on a metal-heavy (no pun intended) label.

Of course, the band got in some hot water with authorities in the early 1990’s, as a result of the track “Cop Killer”, featured on their 1992 debut album. The group has always denied that any kind of actual malice was intended with the song, and Ice-T has long been a proponent of free speech in general in regards to the music industry.

The band has yet to announce a full list of tour dates, but they did play a show at The Marquee Theater in Phoenix on Friday, June 17th. Undoubtedly, a full tour is sure to follow.

No official timeline has been set for the new album’s release, but with the band confirmed to be working in the studio, coupled with the announcement of the new record deal, a release before the end of the year is a real possibility.

For now, fans can look to this as a sign that things are on track with the band, and that new music and shows are right around the corner.
