New Wave stalwarts Tears for Fears said Thursday that they have added 15 North American fall tour dates to their schedule. The group postponed the majority of its current tour in May due to family illness.
“Tears for Fears are pleased to announce that they have rescheduled as many tour dates in the fall as possible, that were previously postponed earlier this year,” the band said through its website.
Tears for Fears will begin their short autumn tour on Sept. 19 in Goldendale, Washington and will conclude on Oct. 9 in San Diego. In addition to the group’s new North American dates, the British band will perform in the UK for the first time since 2005. They are set to play at Newmarket Racecourses on July 29.
The band additionally revealed they are currently working on a new album, their first LP since 2004’s Everybody Loves a Happy Ending. A new release would mark the seventh entry into the group’s catalogue and their fifth LP with both Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith in tow.
Orzabal and Smith have consistently toured throughout the United States since the release of their last album. 2013 marked the only year since 2005 in which the group did not perform live in any capacity.
The group’s core members pursued multiple side projects during their 10-year break from studio production. Smith produced and released two solo albums, Halfway Pleased and Deceptively Heavy. Orzabal, meanwhile, published his first novel, a romantic comedy entitled Sex, Drugs, and Opera.
