On June 7th, Axl Rose sat down and spoke with Sir David Tang at London’s China Exchange. During their conversation, they talked about a wide variety of topics.
These topics included: the current relationship Axl has with former band members, performing with AC/DC, he updated Tang on the reunion of Guns N’ Roses, and the work he is personally doing. According to Rose, Guns N’ Roses are working on some new material. He said, “I got a lot of stuff together, and I played some stuff for Slash and Duff and they liked it, and they might be on it.”
During the interview, Rose also said he and AC/DC’s Angus Young have talked about working together. Rose took over for Brian Johnson as AC/DC’s lead singer, earlier this year, when Johnson developed problems with his hearing.
Rose also expressed interest in writing a book in his own words about his career with Guns N’ Roses. He said the problem with writing the book was finding the right words so it did not appear “like being negative to everybody else and calling them a liar.” The mention of his own book transitioned into Slash’s book and the tense relationship between the two artists.
“Slash and I hadn’t talked in 19 years, and it was a good talk. And, I was like, you wrote a lot of stuff that didn’t even happen. It’s not real.” Since the release of Slash’s autobiography, the two have let bygones be bygones. He also told Tang he was interested in writing music for movies. This is due to his own personal listening tastes, he also said writing for movies was more interesting to him than staying with Guns N’ Roses.
