The most extreme tour of the year has revealed its lineup. According to Brooklyn Vegan, the 2016 Summer Slaughter Tour will include a slew of the hottest metal acts, including Cannibal Corpse, Nile, After the Burial, Suffocation, Carnifex, Revocation, Krisiun, Slaughter to Prevail, and Ingested.
Cannibal Corpse will serve as the headliners. Since the 2014 release of their latest album A Skeletal Domain, the death metal band has spent their time touring about the country. As of 2015, Cannibal Corpse have achieved worldwide sales of two million units for combined sales of all their albums, rendering them the top-selling death metal band of all time. Since forming in 1988, the band released 13 studio albums, 10 music videos, and 2 EPs.
Featured band After the Burial has been invited again to the tour after a turbulent past year. The band, slated to partake in the tour a year ago canceled following the mental decline and ultimate death of rhythm guitarist Justin Lowe. The guitarist suddenly abandoned After the Burial when he accused the band, his manager, the record label, and many close to him of stealing his data and trying to cause him physical harm. A month later, Lowe was found dead in Wisconsin. The band back out of last year’s Summer Slaughter tour and took time to recover from the loss of their bandmate and friend. In February, After the Burial released their most recent album, Dig Deep, which included singles “Lost in the Static” and “Collapse.”
Long Island-based Suffocation has been working on a new album that was first revealed in January 2015. The deathcore band has been touring this year with Soulfly, Abnormality, Battlecross, and Lody Kong. The group’s latest release was 2013’s Pinnacle of Bedlam.
2016 marks Summer Slaughter’s 10th year. The tour will make its way through the US., starting July in Orlando’s Plaza Live and continuing throughout the summer until the end of August. While the shows tend to play in the States and Canada, they have also made its way overseas to Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Check out the full tour schedule below.
