Jamie Wachtel Weiland, late wife of Scott Weiland, opens up about the details surrounding her husbands death, legal issues ,and how she is dealing with it.
Within the interview, Weiland first opens up about Scott’s death, and how she dealt with it. She comments that it was a rough time once she received the news, and it continued to haunt her. It was an altogether disheartening time, where she though she would never recover from the pain she endured with her husbands death. However, Weiland stood strong and hopeful throughout this time.
“Time does heal, and you start remembering the good things, and the things that make you smile, instead of the things that make you cry. And I’m happy to say that I’m smiling a lot more than crying.”, said Weiland.
Weiland continues to discuss her husband before his passing, saying t he had made efforts to become a relatively healthier person in the midst of addiction problems. She is not hesitant to state that Scott had issues of his own; however, she wishes that he had lived longer to reap the benefits he had been working on both health and career wise. Moreover, the abundance of problems for Weiland seems to grow with the legal issues regarding Scott’s estate.
“The truth with Scott’s estate and the finances and how everything was when he was alive, how everything was left after his passing, is such a complicated mess. And there’s no way for the general population to understand or grasp how this could unfold the way that it has.”, said Weiland.
She comments that the general public has this already formed idea in their minds that Scott had an ample amount of money due to his career, but this is not the case at all. Furthermore, they seem to comment on her involvement in these legal issues, questioning why she has not stepped up to the plate. Eloquently, Weiland answers the question with personality and realness. She comments that she did not have the emotional and mental energy to simultaneously deal with Scott’s death and estate. Moreover, there have been those who have accused Weiland of being money hungry.
In the past, Weiland had filed a claim against Scott’s estate for a total of $64,406, claiming the singer owed her this money. Apparently, Scott Weiland’s estate was valued at $2 million.
Weiland comments, “You know, we had a prenuptial agreement; he was supposed to pay a certain amount of money. He only paid it twice. It’s just a formality. To be honest, I’ll probably never see that money, and anyone that understands how prenuptial agreements actually work and how his estate was left gets that, but to the general public, I think it looks like, ‘Oh, Jamie’s just trying to moneygrub ‘ And that’s not what’s happening.”
Towards the end of the interview, Weiland addresses the statements regarding Scott’s relationship to his children that was made to Rolling Stone by Scott’s second wife, Mary Forsberg.
Weiland exclaims, “What she wrote to Rolling Stone was absurd and entirely not based in reality. The truth behind Scott’s relationship, or lack of relationship, with his children is a story that is not out there, and I’m not going to tell that story, because I don’t want my stepchildren to be hurt or to be put in the public eye.”
