Electronic duo Plaid have just released the new video for the song, “Do Matter.” The track is the opener on their upcoming album, The Digging Remedy, out June 10.
The video primarily features actress Claire Louge running through the forest after strange flying objects, along with some panoramic shots of nature. While one may automatically think of the supernatural, it seems that the true intention of the video is to capture nature in all of its beauty. Christopher Arcella, who wrote, directed, produced, shot and animated the video, seems to have a similar viewpoint. In a press release, he elaborated on the video and the elements that came together to create it.
“Four elements form the foundation of this video: first and foremost is Plaid’s cinematic track, which builds a long dramatic crescendo that serves as a blueprint for the narrative. The second is the album and logo art by Designers Republic which inspires the sharp-angled, modular flying objects. Third is the quiet, beautiful Arizona landscape, and fourth is actress Claire Louge’s performance which connects viewers to the mysterious events taking place in the sky.
My idea for the track was a very minimal approach that took advantage of the fact that I was living in the Arizona wilderness for two weeks with my camera and a motorized panning rig. I was living right on the border of a national forest, about 120 miles south of the Grand Canyon.”
“Do Matter” is classic Plaid, and that’s just fine. Since their formation in 1991, the group has released 15 albums, toured the world and brought a unique and innovative approach to the world of electronic music. Each album is somehow better than the last, and it is certain that The Digging Remedy will be no exception.
