The Avalanches have released a teaser trailer hinting at a release of new music this Friday. The trailer teases collaborations with Father John Misty, Danny Brown, Ariel Pink, and many more.
The last time we heard about a new album from the group was in 2011.
As said in the video above, it’s been 15 years since the last Avalanches album. Earlier this year they announced a summer tour. They have confirmed their first live performances in 15 years, including spots at Primavera Sound, Field Day, and Splendor in the Grass.
The video was designed to look like a trailer for a documentary titled Since They Left Us: Whatever Happened to the Avalanches?, the clip recalls the story of The Avalanches throughout the years. Then guests begin to appear, like Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux, Ariel Pink, and Danny Brown. According to Consequence of Sound, “All three of those artists have been connected to the new album in the past.”
Two years ago, Danny Brown confirmed working with the Avalanches on new music. He revealed in an interview that he had worked on two new tracks with the group, that have still not seen the light of the day.
The video leaves you with a guessing game whether this will actually be a movie or just new music.
