In addition to the stellar reunion tour fans have been waiting decades for, Guns N’ Roses will also be releasing a documentary, It’s So Easy and Other Lies: Live at The Moore, to theaters across the U.S.
Released by XLrator Media, the documentary is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by bassist Duff McKagan. It focuses on McKagan’s personal rise to fame and battles with addiction that paralleled Guns N’ Roses’ success. Along with interviews with McKagan, the film features bits from bandmate Slash, Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue) and Mike McCready (Pearl Jam).
The documentary also offers never-before-seen footage of Guns N’ Roses both onstage on off. XLrator said in an early release about the film: “This is great documentary for Rock fans, it plays like a really bad-ass Behind the Music but with some one-of-a-kind footage of the early days of GnR.”
The announcement of screenings across the country also came with an exclusive clip from the documentary (below) in which Nikki Sixx discusses Motley’s Crue’s decision to allow Guns N’ Roses to open for them on their 1987 tour. “These guys would be great… Let’s give them a break. Ozzy gave us a break,” Sixx recalls.
Directed and written by Christopher Duddy along with McKagan, It’s So Easy and Other Lies will begin screenings on May 26, with theaters picking up the film into June. See the full list of theaters showing the documentary here and watch the official trailer below.
