Garbage, an alternative rock group, has released their “Empty” music video today that is gold. Still keeping their original, edgy vibe to their music, this 90’s band has made a comeback in 2016 with this cinematic production.
The video begins with flashing, colored lights bright enough to only define the silhouettes of the band. A guitar lick marks the start of the song, and the camera circles each band member in the dark. The kaleidoscopic flashes quicken as the song picks up its pace. Soon enough, Shirley Manson, Garbage’s lead singer, struts towards the microphone wearing a colorful fur jacket. Manson proceeds to seize the microphone, and prevalent lighting reveals her electric, pink hair.
The colorful strobe lights continue to mesmerize the audience watching the music video, and this comes to no surprise. The music video was directed by Samuel Bayer, a renown cinematographer whose track list is extensive and impressive. You may have seen Bayer’s work in “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” music video by Green Day, or even seen one of his car commercials on television. Samuel Bayer should be proud of his production for the “Empty” music video.
“Empty” is the first and only single that has been released off of their new album entitled Strange Little Birds. Furthermore, it is the first song to have music form this album thus far. Strange Little Birds is set to be released on June 10th, and the band has also announced tour dates in honor of this new album.
