LISTEN: Banks And Steelz Release New Song “Love + War”

Banks and Steelz have finally released some new material from their collaboration album that they announced back in 2013.

The musical duo Banks and Steelz that consists of Wu Tang Clan’s RZA and Interpol‘s frontman Paul Banks have been working on an album since 2013. This unique and highly anticipated collaboration has finally put their collective efforts into motion publicly by first announcing their name, RZA calling himself Steelz and Bank simply adding an “s” to his name, and now their first single. The single is called “Love & War” and is going to be off of their upcoming album. The new single features Ghostface Killah and will be the titled track to the new album, as reported by Stereogum. The sound of the new single is everything you can expect from duo like this, which means its nothing you could have expected. The winding guitar riffs drive the song into Banks‘ unique vocals and Ghost’s limitless flow.

“For love sometimes we find ourselves at war and the combatants may do anything to win,” RZA says of the song. “For me love is worth fighting for, as long as love is not lost.”

“Love & War” can be streamed below.

Aside from the new album and recently released single, the duo have launched pop-up shops on LA street-wear strip Fairfax Avenue, and New York City’s fashion-eccentric Orchard Street.

They will also be making an appearance as one of the many highly talented acts to perform in Las Vegas, Nevada’s Life is Beautiful Festival. Other notable acts in the lineup are Mumford and Sons, Jane’s Addiction and Crystal Castles to name a few. Tickets for the festival went on sale on May 20 but the doors aren’t set to open until September 23.

Ryan Fricke: Music is my therapy, which I could not function without. I am currently finishing my senior year a Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida with a Journalism major and a Creative Writing Minor. I first realized I wanted to become a Music Journalist the minute I learned that I could get paid to do the two things I love most, writing and listening to music. I have yet to decide which I am more infatuated with but for the time being I will happily house them to their stalemate. My plans after graduation are unclear but I hope to further gain experience in this profession.
