The investigation into Prince’s death continues to reveal new, and unnerving details about the musician’s personal life. It has been revealed that Prince was in contact with Doctor Michael Schulenberg, who has now become the main focus of police and other officials’ questioning.
Schulenberg, a Minneapolis resident, saw Prince twice in the last two weeks before the musician passed. The doctor met with Prince on April 7th and April 20th, the day before he was found dead in his home. It has also been revealed the doctor was scheduled to meet with Prince the day he died, to deliver results to an unknown test. It is unknown as to what Prince was being treated for, but he had been given an undisclosed prescription that was filled at a local Walgreen’s pharmacy. Not only is Dr. Schulenberg being investigated, the clinic where he was employed until last Tuesday, is also under investigation.
Many believe the cause of Prince’s untimely death is due to an overdose. Reports have stated Prince made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois after an Atlanta concert because of the flu he had been battling. TMZ states, Prince was rushed to the emergency room to receive “save shot,” and despite suggestions to stay in Illinois, he chose to return to his home in Minneapolis.
The idea Prince died of an overdose becomes a stronger argument due to the fact he had set up a meeting with Doctor Howard Kornfeld, an addiction doctor, the day before his death. Prince’s reps called Kornfeld on the evening of April 20th, but were told he wouldn’t be able to fly out until April 22nd. His son, Andrew, flew to Minneapolis in his father’s place the night they received the phone call, planning on meeting with the musician the next morning.
William Mauzy, the Kornfeld family attorney stated, “The doctor was planning on a lifesaving mission.” When Andrew arrived at Prince’s home the next morning, he intended on giving Prince a drug that would help curb his opioid cravings. Upon Kornfeld’s arrival, the singer could not be located. It would be Kornfeld and two of Prince’s reps that would find the singer in an elevator, and it would be Kornfeld who would make the 911 call.
With the revelations of Prince’s addictions, reports are coming out stating Prince had cocaine habit that he just could not control. Accusations by other artists are also coming to light. Last week, Sinead O’Connor accused Arsenio Hall, via Facebook, of being Prince’s drug supplier over the last few years. Hall denied these allegations, and in turn, has filed a lawsuit against O’Connor for $5 million.
