From hand-drawn cars to hand-drawn city buildings, Tegan and Sara are back again, and finally changing their ways for a lover.
This Seth Bogart directed music video brings the viewer a sense of nostalgia, even if that was not it’s intention. After the initial hand-drawn car, the video goes on to display a colorfully, designed background that would remind one of the opening credits to Saved By the Bell. As I watched it, I expected Zach to pop out of one of the city buildings, and begin dancing in the street with the sisters.
The video shifts here and there, showing the girls in the car, running down the street, and rocking out in their vehicle. It also shows the girls dancing in the middle of the street, in front of ever-changing palm trees, and moving and colorful buildings.
As the lyrics go,
Sit myself down, bring my pride in
And start to focus, change who I’ve been
Give me a second, let me u-turn
Write you the love song you’ve earned
The video shows the girls’ desperation to get to their destination to show the one they love they can change for the better. Despite the desperate plea for their lover to give them the chance to change their ways, the video stays upbeat with the vibrant colors, and wacky designs that never seem to end.
