Over the past few months, rumors have swirled around a rock mega-fest in the Indio Valley featuring some of the most legendary acts to ever emerge from the genre.
Today those rumors became reality, as Goldenvoice (promoter behind Coachella, Stagecoach) have announced Desert Trip Festival, a three day event taking place at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California, which you probably recognize as the home of Coachella.
The festival will take place October 7-9 and be formatted as such: on Friday night the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan are playing. Paul McCartney and Neil Young are the performers for Saturday, while Roger Waters and The Who finish out the weekend on Sunday.
Alas, the price of admission will be relatively low considering how much each of these acts would charge for an individual show. The low end of the pricing is the $399 general admission ticket, while the high end is $1,599 for the standing pit or reserved floor seats. Tickets go on sale Monday, May 9 at 10AM PT. To learn more about the ticketing options, as well as hotel and camping availability, check out the Desert Trip website.
Just in case you wanted to feel really bad about your own personal lack of talent or career choices, it has been reported that each act will make around $7 million dollars for participating in the festival. Yes, $7 million.
