Hip hop legends, De La Soul, have released a new EP, titled For Your Pain & Suffering.
Last year, the trio announced they would be releasing a new album. It would be their first since their 2004 record The Grind Date. Apart from this, what made this future album so special was the fact that it would be funded entirely by Kickstarter donations.
The forthcoming album And The Anonymous Nobody, will feature insane collaborations with the likes of Damon Albarn, David Byrne, Little Dragon and 2 Chainz.
The twelve year wait has fans understandably anxious. De La Soul initially reported that the album would drop April 29, 2016 but complications have pushed the release date back. In light of this, the hip hop trio decided to release an EP, For Your Pain & Suffering, rather than leave their fans empty handed.
The EP includes four tracks, and its cover features Posdnuos running from angry fans and shouting the possible new release date for the album, August 26.
The EP is available to stream online here.
De La Soul formed in 1987 and hail from Long Island, New York and are made up of members Posdnuos, Dave and Maseo. Thus far, the trio have released seven studio albums, and their debut, 3 Feet High and Rising, has been noted for being a seminal part of hip hop history.
