WATCH: D’Angelo Releases New Cover Of “Sometimes It Snows In April” By Prince

With the unexpected and recent death of the legendary musical icon Prince, there has been surge of tributes being made by plenty of famous artist who wanted to do tributes to the loss of a great inspiration to music. Michael Eugene Archer, or better known by his stage name D’angelo, is the most recent of musicians to create a cover to one of Prince’s classic tracks. D’angelo took the stage on the Jimmy Fallon show, accompanied by comedian Maya Rudolph and jazz vocalist Gretchen Lieberum, aka Princess, to perform “Sometimes It Snows In April”, Prince’s Parade highlight.

D’angelo opened with a beautiful vocal melody with the two ladies, as he slowly played the keys on the piano. The audience seemed to have been brought to tears by this amazing rendition, remembering the lost artist and the music which he created his legacy on. Of all the tributes that have started coming from various artist, nobody seems to nail it better than D’angelo and Princess, with updated lyrics to one of Prince’s deeper tracks in order to reflect the unexpected loss of its original singer: “I often dream of heaven / I know that Prince is there”.

Fallon’s band drummer, and longtime Prince fan, Questlove tweeted about the performance, thanking the staff of the Fallon show for allowing them to add to the ever growing tributes to their  lost inspiration.

It seems that Prince’s influence was wide and immeasurable, we’re all the better for getting to hear more of them. As more and more tributes from other famous musicians come in, fans can go to bed happy at night knowing that Prince’s memory will always live on through his incredible music.
