Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes has released a new track: “Swimming”. The single features Joanna Newsom/Bill Callahan drummer Neal Morgan on percussion. It is unannounced whether “Swimming” will be a part of an upcoming album or if it will simply stay a single.
Fleet Foxes has been rather quiet since 2014, and when asked, Robin told the world that he figured it was time for him to go to college said Pitchfork.
“I never got an undergraduate degree, and this felt like the right time to both see what that was about and to try something new,” he wrote. “I moved to New York and applied to Columbia.”
“Swimming” is his second Track since he made the bands break official after a cover of “Out OF Sight, Out of Mind” by Doo-wop group. However, Consequences Of Sound reports that he has played some unreleased songs on his Spring tour as Joanna Newsom’s opening act.
In 2012 Robins brother Sean Pecknold made a movie called A Blog Cats WTF Universe about one of the most famous LOLcat writers in the world and how he went through an existential crisis. Robin was able to score in the film. The collaboration between brothers was a familiar occurrence due to the fact that Sean had previously directed some of Fleet Foxes music videos.
