The band Gohira has released a new single “Stranded” as well as the details about the album that it will be featured on. The LP: Magma will be released on June 17th via Roadrunner.
“Stranded” is the epitome of the french death metal sound that Gohira uniquely builds. The song features a blend of death metal and Psychedelics and a unique version of melodeath said Brooklyn Vegan
The band currently has European tour dates planned to celebrate the release of the upcoming album, and plan to release US dates in the coming week.
The album was actually inspired by a great loss in their lives that they have been open enough to share with their fans. The brothers mother passed away from an illness in the midst of building their new studio and planning to get going with their music. With a little change in a touring schedule, they were able to be with their mom when she passed away and were deeply grateful for the experience.
Joseph told Rolling Stone: “I felt physically, mentally exhausted,” he explained, “At the same time, though, the way it happened was beautiful. We were all around her. We had to cancel a few shows when she died, but it was very enriching at the same time. We learned a lot about death.”
