With news breaking of the tragic passing of Prince just a day earlier, there was no doubt that the second weekend of Coachella 2016 would celebrate the influential artist. On Friday, Gallant was among the first artists to do so (though Joey Badass and Mavis Staples both offered tribute) when he brought a special guest onstage for a cover of The Purple One’s. To mark the occasion, he brought R&B singer Jhené Aiko on stage for a performance of “Diamonds and Pearls.” The title track of his 13th album, the song is a hard-edged guitar-driven ballad.

Just last month Gallant released his debut studio full-length, titled Ology. The alternative R&B artist received strong reviews for the album that was released by Mind of a Genius Records. Just last weekend at Coachella he performed with none other than Seal, a legend in the R&B/singer-songwriter genre.
Meanwhile, Jhené Aiko has recently released music as Twenty88. This project is a collaboration with rapper Big Sean. She recently performed new music from the project on Jimmy Kimmel Live this month.
