The Coachella Valley Music & Arts festival is always known for its high profile guest appearances, and 2016 is no exception to that rule. Already we’ve seen a video cameo by Bernie Sanders and an appearance by Nas with Run the Jewels late Saturday afternoon and an appearance by Kanye West during A$AP Rocky’s opening day set. Musicians as well as music fans from around the world are drawn to this epic three-day festival in the desert, so it is no surprise a few of them would hop on stage for a special performance.
It’s no surprise that electronic duo Disclosure would join in on the special guest fun. Both of their albums, 2013’s Disclosure and 2015’s Caracal feature a bevy of guest vocalists. In order to truly perform their tracks in the most proper fashion possible, the band brought on a couple of very high profile special guests to round out their set.
First up was New Zealand singer Lorde, who lent her powerful vocal talents to the Caracal track “Magnets,” the albums fourth single.
Of course, the voice that gave Disclosure their biggest hit a few years ago is crooner Sam Smith, whose own career was in some ways launched by the partnership with his fellow Britons on “Latch.” Now that the two artists are total mega-stars, they came together to give festival-goers a once-in-a-lifetime experience, performing not only “Latch” from Disclosure but also “Omen” from Caracal.
