Brian Message of Courtyard Management Claims Radiohead Will Release New Album in June

A partner of Radiohead’s managment company, Brian Message, caused quite a stir when he recently spoke about the band’s rumored new album. According to Spin, he reportedly confirmed that the follow-up to 2011’s King of Lambs will be released in June and stated that it was “like nothing you’ve ever heard.” However, the band is telling a different story.

Radiohead issued statement today in which they claimed that Message was not their manager, but “a partner in Courtyard Management that plays no operational role.” The band do not directly confirm or deny the quotes from Message, but rather state that he is not affiliated with Radiohead and his statements should not be seen as direct information from the group. While Message is a partner in Radiohead’s management company, the group are truly represented by Chris Hufford and Bryce Edge of Courtyard Management.

Message also made a statement about the precise form of the release of the new album. As stated by The Guardian, he said ““I’m looking forward to the day it does come out. And I hope – I really hope – it does come out on streaming services. To say that’s been answered, believe me it hasn’t, but I’m praying every night that it does.” It’s no surprise that this is still undecided, as Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has been vocal about his distaste for streaming services. He has even pulled Radiohead music off Spotify and the now-defunt Rdio app, claiming that artists see an abysmal share of royalties. The stance on streaming service between musicians is quite controversial, and only time will tell which form the new Radiohead album takes.

In the meantime, the group will embark on a world tour this Summer starting in May. Radiohead faced controversy last month when tickets for the tour sold out in a matter of minutes and showed up on secondary ticketing sites for outrageous fees. The incident caused fan uproar and even caused the group to tweet and warn fans about the dangers of buying secondary tickets. While Message’s statements have proven not to be official, fans are holding out hope that they can expect a new album from the group in June, and it will live up to the hype.
