Joywave @ Union Transfer 6/23

Joywave is headed back to Philly this summer! This May, they’ll be out supporting Silversun Pickups and Foals for a slew of dates across the US. Come June, they’ll head out on their own headlining tour which will make its way to Philly on June 23rd. The show goes down at Union Transfer, and will feature support from KOPPS and Transviolet.

In March, the band trolled their fans (and those unfamiliar with their work) when they released an album entitled SWISH. The full-length 10-song LP featured just two songs in actuality, their previously released song, “Destruction” and new track “Life in a Bubble I Blew.” Word is this entire stunt was in response to Kanye West using similar art to that which the band had been using to promote their new material. And for those in on the joke, it was a funny distraction from the TLOP mania.

But of course, Joywave are more than just funny jokes. The band has proven themselves to be distributors of catchy tracks, since the release of their 2014 EP How Do We Feel, which featured the hit tracks “Tongues” (featuring opening KOPPS) and “Somebody New.”  In addition to an supporting appearance from KOPPS, the June 23rd date will also feature a set from LA four-piece Transviolet, whose tracks “Girls Your Age” and “New Bohemia” have made them one of the most buzzed about new bands. Get to Union Transfer early that night to catch out of the exciting sets on this bill.
