Metronomy and Mix Master Mike are collaborating on new album that should be released later this year.
The English electronic-music outfit is working on the fifth installment to their discography with little help from Mix Master Mike. According to NME, Metronomy has yet to give the new album an official name but expects it to be ready for release sometime this year. The unnamed album has been made to be sort of sequel to the group’s 2008 release Nights Out.
When describing Nights Out front man Joe Mount had this to say, “a half-arsed concept album about going out and having a crap time”. He said in an interview with Q magazine, essentially the same will be intended with the new release except for a slight difference.
“I just wanted to make an uptempo record,” he told the magazine. “I wanted to try and do another record that captures that fading memory of being a bit younger and going to clubs, but with the confidence I didn’t have then.”
With the contribution of Mix Master Mike to the new album fans can only expect a new level of sound. Mike has been in the business for years and has earned the recognition as one of the best DJs in the world. He is a longtime collaborator with the Beastie Boys right up until the death of Adam Yauch. The Veteran DJ worked on several of the Beastie Boys albums incluing Hello Nasty and To The 5 Boroughs as well joining them on their stadium tours.
Mount also told Q magazine that Mike has contributed a scratch break to one of the unnamed new album’s tracks called “Old Skool,” which is a song about the all too familiar feeling of not recognizing anyone at a party.
