Hot off his production for Kendrick Lamar’s “Untitled 6,” Adrian Younge played an intimate show at the Del Monte Speakeasy in Venice Beach, California as part of the Red Bull Sound Select series of concerts. Adrian brought his soulful and funky music with support from the Godfather of Chicago Hip-Hop, producer and DJ, No ID. The Chicago-based icon is best known for mentoring young aspiring artists, such as Kanye West, and has produced records for Jay-Z, G-Unit, Big Sean among others.
Inspired by the production of Wu-Tang head RZA, Youne has come to work with many of the Wu alumni, cutting a whole album with Ghostface, Twelve Reasons To Die. He also produced tracks with Raekwon and RZA. Younge’s works are best known for his analog recordings and being presented by his Italian-influenced, multi-instrumental band, Venice Dawn. He also scored the 2009 American blaxploitation action comedy, Black Dynamite.
Adrian’s latest album, Something About April II, was released earlier this year. A sequel to his heavily-sampled first April album, Younge emerges as someone more interested in creating new classics than new samples.
