The Avalanches have reunited and are making their way to the concert stage. The Avalanches announced tour dates that would start in Europe at the Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain and their tour will end at Splendor In The Grass festival in the band’s hometown of Australia.
For ten and a half years The Avalanches have not produced any new albums. Their single album Since I Left You was released back in 2000, sixteen years ago. The band remixed their compilation issue of Hunter & Collector in 2013 and reissued their single album in 2011. The band have not played a live concert since 2007, nor have The Avalanches DJ’ed since 2011. Fans awaited with a heavily bated breath to see whether or not the band would produce new content or announce more shows. Finally, everyone gets the dream of a lifetime, a reunion tour to kick off the start of summer. The Avalanches updated their social media accounts with the announcement of a tour lineup and a follow-up album, What We Know, to their 2000 work. But there is some question as to whether or not the follow up album will be in relation to the tour dates that they released. More information will come in as The Avalanches prepare for their reunion performance.
Last year Darren Seltmann announced his resignation from the band. Previously, the title to the follow-up album Since I Left You, has been released on social media but the band have said it is a toss up between On A Saturday and Friday Night Fever. Information about the follow-up album track listing is not yet available, but musician Danny Brown has recorded a couple of songs with The Avalanches. The band also listed the help of musician Jennifer Herrema with writing the lyrics to one of the new songs to be debuted on the album. The band posted a tweet containing some of the lyrics on their Twitter profile. Musician Ariel Pink was also working alongside The Avalanches recording some vocal performances for another song in the works. So far, no announce date for the album release has been made either. So far the tour consist of The Avalanches performing at festivals throughout Europe and one in Australia. No real tour dates have been mentioned except the tour dates posted below the article.
