After several months of being shut down to the public, the Bataclan Cafe has announced that they will be re-opening the doors to their venue, which was the site of the terrible terrorist attack which occurred just over half a year ago in Paris, France where 90 innocent people were gunned down by radical terrorists. The venue had told the news that they had every intention of opening the doors again but wanted to go through a large renovation first before announcing when the doors will open again to the public.
The most recent group to play there was Eagles of Death Metal, whose show sadly ended with the shootings, who still have nightmares about their passed performance. The band was just getting into their set at the famous venue when all of a sudden three gunman opened fire onto the unsuspecting concert goers, killing nearly 90 people and injuring so many more.
NY Times and The Guardian report that the Bataclan Announced, via their social media page, that Pete Doherty, English musician, songwriter, actor, poet, writer, artist, and co-frontman for The Libertines will be the first to grace the stages for re-opening night, the venue is looking to return to glory and arise from the ashes to bring stellar shows to the music lovers of the beautiful city. With more shows scheduled in November and December by US rock group Nada Surf, and the French group MZ, who have also been booked to play the concert hall later on this year.
Even though the events that happened in November can and will never be forgotten, Bataclan is attempting to move passed the tragedy and focus on the future. With plans to bring in many more shows and acts as the doors reopen, it will be nice to see the legendary venue at full force once again entertaining the musical masses.
