The 12th annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is happening this summer from July 13th to July 16th in the Borough of Brooklyn near Manhatten. The festival is sponsored by Brooklyn Bodega, Inc and The Bodega Agency. The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is New York City’s largest hip-hop cultural event that focuses on highlighting the history and societal impact of hip-hop culture, including the positives of it. Fabolous, NAS, and Talib Kweli will be headlining the festival.
Fabolous is a hip hop recording artist who has been around since 1998 when he was a teenager and started rapping live on a radio show. Since then, he’s put out six studio albums, his latest one released in 2014 called The Young OG Project. The sequel to this album, The Young OG Project 2, is expected sometime this year. As of late, Fabolous performed with Nicki Minaj and other artists this past Christmas at NYC.
American rapper and songwriter NAS has sold over 25 million records worldwide since his career started back in the 1990s. Eleven studio albums have been released by him so far, though it’s been awhile since he’s put out new music. Life Is Good was his latest, back in 2012. Recently, NAS performed a previously unheard collaboration with rapper J Dilla at SXSW.
Talib Kweli is an American hip hop recording artist and social activist with a long list of albums released in the span of his career, which started back in 1996. In 2011, he founded the independent record label Javotti Media. He has collaborated with many famous producers including Kanye West and Pharrell Williams.
