There is something new and innovative coming to New York City this May and it will feature some of music’s hottest artists including Robin Thicke, on May 7th at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn.
The four-day music event is being called Grammy Park and will be hosted by The Recording Academy. The first year music festival will feature a collection of Grammy-nominated and Grammy-award winning artists over the course of four days at multiple NYC locations that include Kings Theater, Prospect Park Bandshell and LeFrak Center at Lakeside. Some of the performances will be free to the public but there are others that will require tickets. A schedule/list of performing artists can be found here.
Robin Thicke, the five-time Grammy-nominee, is scheduled to perform at Kings Theatre on Saturday, May 7th. The 39-year-old artist is most popularly known for his 2013 hit single, Blurred Lines, that resulted in Thicke becoming an international sensation in pop-culture. He came out with his most recent hit single, Back Together, that featured hip-hop artist, Nicki Minaj.
The artist has become overwhelmingly successful in just the past few years. But with great fame comes even greater controversy and Thicke has been no exception to the rule. Last year, a jury found Thicke liable for copyright infringement after the family of deceased R&B artist, Marvin Gaye, sued the pop artist. The family claimed that Blurred Lines sounded too similar to Gaye’s song, Got to Give It Up, and was awarded over $7 million. The result of the lawsuit was followed with an uproar from other famous musicians like Keith Urban, John Legend and Bill Withers who questioned the legitimacy of the jury’s decision.
Also performing in support of Thicke will be Grammy-nominated artist, Aloe Blacc. His 2013 album, Lift Your Spirit, became an overwhelming success and was nominated for best R&B album in 2015. Wake Me Up, Blacc’s hit single from the record, was also sampled in Avicii’s hit single, Wake Me Up.
If you want to catch Robin Thicke with Aloe Blacc for the this year’s first ever Grammy Park music festival, you can pick up your tickets through Grammy Park’s website. Ticket prices for this event are selling from $60-130 on Ticketmaster.
