Members Of Lamb Of God And Testament Including Randy Blythe And Alex Skolnick Launch New Magazine

Debuting this Spring, on April 26th, from the mind of Tom Bejgrowicz, who partnered with Lamb of God vocalist, and Testament Lead Guitarist Alex Skolnick as editors, in order to created UNBUILT, a biannual, limited edition, culture and lifestyle publication which will feature interviews with musicians, mind-blowing photography from shows, and inside looks into the entertainment world.

It would seem silly to some that two musicians would want to release a physical publication in the modern digital age, where you can find any article you would like with the push of a button or the swipe of your screen. When the artists were asked why get into a possibly dying industry Skolnick commented “The continued relevance of the printed word and resurgence of brick and mortar bookstores is proof of an undying affection for pre-digital age information processing,” Blythe agreed and followed up saying “the very nature of most modern media renders it intangible – hence, easily discarded with a click of a button and immediately forgotten.” this mind frame seems to give the same feeling as when a music artist chooses to produce one of his or her album onto vinyl, even though we are in the modern age of not needing wax, you can ask any person who knows music and they will let you know that nothing sounds as good as vinyl. Blythe added to his statement and described the upcoming new publication “UNBUILT stands among a growing number of small, well-designed print magazines as an object of artistic permanence. I’m excited to be involved with a project that kicks against the culture of disposable thought and art”.

The first issue of the magazine will feature interviews with activist artist Sue Coe, documentary/video director Tom Berninger, author and veteran Kevin Powers, Broadway pit musicians Jake Schwartz & Mat Fieldes, architect Maddy Samaddar, and Reiner Design, the artists behind the packaging for Metallica’s …And Justice For All and Metallica (a.k.a. the “Black Album”), all of which give fascinating inside look into the underworld the entertainment industry. It will also offer up a photographic essay on the surfing culture, with a original short story that was written and photographed during a trip to the Cayman Islands. One more great feature in this new magazine will be its “Exhibition Space” centerfold piece which will put a new, different artist into the spotlight each issue. Gracing the pages for the inaugural piece is Pittsburgh based Mike Egan.

UNBUILT also is looking to inform its subscribers is that $1 from each sale of the print will go to assist those in need around the world. Humane Society International and the International Committee of the Red Cross will each receive 50¢ from every issue sold.
