American indie rock duo Wye Oak has announced their tour dates for this summer, and along with it they’ve also released a cover of Pat Benatar’s 1984 hit song “We Belong.” American singer-songwriter and four-time Grammy winner, Benatar is most known for this single. She is also going on her own tour soon. Wye Oak puts their own spin on the song with their cover of it, but they still stick to the original version for the most part. Check it out below.
Wye Oak has some new music on the way too. Their tour will start on June 16th in Connecticut and conclude on August 11th in Austin, Texas. The band has had four studio albums released so far. Shriek was their latest, released in 2014 via Merge Records. It received fairly good reviews from critics upon its released (find a review of the album here). Wye Oak is composed of Andy Stack, who plays drums, keyboards, and sings backup vocals, and Jenn Wasner, who plays guitars and sings lead vocals, and has recently taken up bass. Stack will often play drums with his feet and right hand, while playing the bass line with his left hand. Their band name is a tribute to the former state tree of Maryland – the band originates from Baltimore.
