Coheed and Cambria have just released a new music video for their song “Island” that is inspired by beloved super heroes Batman and Superman and what they represent. The song is from their 8th studio album Color Before The Sun that was released October 9th of last year.
The video was premiered on March 10th via People Magazine online. It is about the two super hero’s who appear to be unlikely friends, but it turns out that they compliment each other in all of the right ways. They appear to be only two men busking as the super hero’s but it seems to a viewers perspective that it is meant to signify much more. Lead singer Claudio Sanchez has talked in the past about the importance of comics in his life and continues to share about their relatable double meanings.
“When I think of these two iconic characters, I think of opposite attraction” shares Sanchez. “I think of myself and my wife. How two opposite ends of a spectrum can create harmony and balance. In one way or another, these characters have been paired up with like-minded love interests, the Bat and the Cat… The Alien and the Amazonian… I wanted to bring the Dark and the Light together.”
The second music video for the song “Island” was released as the band is in the midst of their sold out spring tour. It also came just in time to promote the new Batman vs Superman movie that is due to be in theaters soon.
