Soul Groovin
We are loving this CREW, Crew Love, of course. This abstract array of beats can have you feeling some “Type of Way.” Not only is the album a variation of different rhythms but it’s also a variation of different styles. For example, “Yo Soy Un Pusher,” differs from “Hella Rigorous” in that one consists of a Spanish flavor and the other has more of an old school groovy hip hop vibe. This crew collaborated to put an album together that’ll get you off your feet.
If you could go back in time to the 70s and imagine yourself underneath a disco ball on rollerblades, “Love Train” would be the soundtrack of the night. This groovy, futuristic, funkadelic beat certainly drives anyone to the classic bobbing-your-head and swaying side-to-side motions. It’s definitely one of the songs on the album with a beat infectious enough that you’ll find yourself playing it over and over again. Groovy and funky, Crew Love has it down to a T. “Smokers Delight” is just another one of those songs that takes you back in time. Funky and soulful isn’t the only thing you get in this album, there is a definitive difference in each song and that’s what makes the album unique. “The Brazilion” displays noticeable traits of rock and alternative. The heavy presence of the guitar only strengthens the influence that rock has in the track and the wide spectrum of genres and styles in this album.
Based On A True Story successfully fuses elements of funk, soul, and rock in a way that’s modernized for the millennial generation while also seeming to have significant influences from electronic music, more specifically deep house. Variety is KEY when it comes to this album; each song has its own STORY to tell. If this is based on a true story, then we’re interested in hearing it, because this album is different from anything we’ve ever heard. It will be released February 26th, 2016, so get your dancing shoes ready and wait for the crew to tell you their story.
