The season finale of ABC’s The Muppets featured a collaboration between Jack White and The Muppets’ house band, The Mayhems, covering Stevie Wonder’s classic hit “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life.” In honor of this incredible team-up, White’s own Third Man Records has announced the physical and digital releases of the song. Side A of the 7″ will feature the White/Mayhems collaboration, while side B will feature a TV rendition of the same song, this time featuring all of The Muppets singing along.
The digital version of the song can be purchased through Tidal or through Apple Music. Meanwhile, those that prefer the physical copy can pre-order the standard black vinyl 7″ from Third Man Records.

The cover of “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life” fits directly into the plot of the finale of The Muppets. The collaboration between The Muppets and White comes about because Kermit needs help in his relationship with Miss Piggy. In addition to the cover of Stevie Wonder’s 1972 smash, White teams up with Kermit and sings The White Stripes’ breakout hit “Fell in Love With a Girl.”
The remake of The Muppets has featured several big collaborations with high profile musicians, including Imagine Dragons, Josh Groban, Pentatonix, Joan Jett and Willie Nelson. Perhaps the most notable of these musician special guest spots was in December when Dave Grohl appeared on the show to have a drum-off with Animal, The Muppets’ resident rhythm-keeper.
Jack White has been busy as usual, having just released his third album with The Dead Weather, one of his many active bands. The album, Dodge and Burn, features the single “Impossible Winner”; the song’s video was directed by Sophie Muller and Ross McDowell.
