America’s biggest hip hop music fest is returning for its ninth year with over 40 artists performing on three stages within 10 hours. According to Stereogum, Soundset launches on May 29, featuring headliners Atmosphere, A$AP Rocky and Aesop Rock.
For nearly a decade, the indie hip hop record label Rhymesayers has been unleashing its one-day rap festival in Minnesota. The Minneapolis-based entertainment group featured their artists Atmosphere and Aesop Rock in 2015’s 20th Anniversary Concert. Atmosphere recently unveiled a new track, “This Lonely Rose”, with Aesop Rock And Blueprint.
Soundset 2016 moved to the Midway of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, but continues to highlight the best artists in hip hop, including The Roots, Common, Machine Gun Kelly, Danny Brown, Raury, Jay Rock, and Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals.
Soundset promises ten nonstop hours of an electrifying fusion of hip-hop legends and emerging talent while also featuring b-boy battles, graffiti displays, a skateboard showdown, a custom car show, and a production showcase.
In 2015, the eight Soundset fest sold out with an ecstatic audience of 30,000. “Coachella, Hangout, Lollapalooza and the like? They’re all awesome,” MTV stated. “But which one is the most hip-hop? Well, as we found out this weekend, the rap festival crown belongs to Soundset.”
General admission and VIP tickets go on sale Friday, March 4.
