50 years of “Off The Wall” @ Brooklyn’s House of Vans

This month on March 16 head over to Brooklyn’s House of Vans for their 50 years of “Off The Wall” anniversary celebration that will feature performances from Nas, Yeasayer and Questlove.

For half a century, Vans has become an symbol of art, fashion, sports and music in modern popular culture. The House of Vans in Greenpoint, Brooklyn will be just one of many worldwide celebrations being held on March 16 to commemorate the Vans brand. The House of Vans in Austin, Texas and Toronto, Canada will also be participating in the celebrations. Brooklyn’s House of Vans has announced that the legendary rapper, Nas, will be performing at the skate-park for the celebration. Born and raised on the streets of Brooklyn, Nas is arguably one of the most iconic rappers of our time. Nas released his first record, Illmatic, in 1994 and has become a testament of East Coast rap/hip-hop and is regarded as one of the greatest rap records of all time. Since 1994, Nas has come out with a discography of classic rap records including It Was Written, Stillmatic, God’s Son and Street’s Disciple. Nas frequently appears on tracks with other artists including Rick Ross’s newest hit, One of Us, of off his newest record, Black Market.

Experimental rock band, Yeasayer, will also be playing at the House of Vans celebration. The Brooklyn-natives are set to release their fourth studio album, Amen & Goodbye, on April 1, 2016. They’ve recently released their single from their anticipated album, I Am Chemistry.

If you’ve never been to a show at House of Vans, there is a couple of things you should know. First, there are no tickets to the show and it is completely free. That’s right. Performances held at the House of Vans are an RSVP eventso you’re going to want to put your name on their list. Secondly, get there early. Even if your name is on their list, it is possible they will reach capacity before you are able to get in.
