Kanye West – The Life of Pablo

Worth The Wait

Kanye West has blessed the music world again with The Life of Pablo. The album name changed a few times, and Kanye even had a bit of a twitter beef with Wiz Khalifa over the original name. Knowing Kanye, the fight could have just been a way to promote the album.

The first song of the album, “ Ultralight Beam”, is produced beautifully. In the beginning of the song, Kanye sampled a part from a little girl who went viral on YouTube, preaching the gospel.

The choir used in the chorus of the song really brings to light what the song is truly about. The song does not have any curse words, usual Kanye rants, or anything to that effect. This is because of Kirk Franklin being on the album and having the message of “…This is God’s dream.” All artists on the song pay their tribute to where their talents really come from: God.

Kirk Franklin did an interview with Hip Hollywood and talked about why he decided to be on a song with someone like Kanye West. He stated that he is not better than Kanye, and it’s his job to bring people closer to God. The song features Kirk Franklin, Kelly Price; Chance the Rapper and The Dream.

A song that was received with controversy is “Famous”, featuring Rihanna. The song talks about Kanye making people “famous.” And according to him, he made Taylor Swift famous. Kanye claims that he got the OK from Swift to put that in his song, but when she won her Grammy she stated loud and clear that she did not need or depend on Kanye for her success.

In The Life of Pablo, West seems to be rapping about every controversial issue he or Kim Kardashian have ever been involved in. An example of this is in the song “Highlights.” He raps: “I bet me and Ray-J could be friends if we didn’t love the same b**ch, yeah me mighta hit it first, only problem is I’m rich.” Kanye acknowledges Ray-J’s song “I hit it first” but it doesn’t seem to bother him at all.

Newcomers and die-hard Kanye fans alike will enjoy this album all the way through. The songs on the album will make Yeezy fans laugh, think, and continue to support him even more until his next album.

The Life of Pablo has a total of 18 tracks and can only be heard on Tidal.
