As Spring rolls around every year, so does festival season. It’s evident that Coachella is one of the biggest festivals in California, let alone the U.S. With tickets selling out within record times year after year, the Desert Sun reports that an autumn music festival “is imminent.”
According to Consequence of Sound, “Back in 2013, Coachella producers Goldenvoice signed an agreement with Indio, California to keep the festival in the city through 2030. The agreement also allows Goldenvoice to stage up to five events over the course of the year. As Goldenvoice already puts on two weekends of Coachella and the country-themed Stagecoach Music Festival, that leaves room for two potential fall events.”
A new festival would bring Indio an additional $1.4 million in revenue.
According to Indio Mayor Glenn Miller, “Significant progress,” has been made with Goldenvoice on a fall festival. Mayor Miller says he believes a new event is “imminent.”
Goldenvoice President Paul Toletti has often said he’d be open to presenting additional festivals, but it won’t happen this fall.
“Just an idea we talked about,” Tollett said to the Desert Sun, “But we’ve talked about it before. Hopefully some day. We love the Coachella Valley.”
The spring edition of Coachella will take place on April 15-17th, and 22-24th. The festival’s lineup features reunited bands Guns N’ Roses and LCD Soundsystem.
